Justice & Peace Meeting

The Holy Land

A very well-attended meeting on the future of the Holy Land was held on 6 June.
A fascinating presentation, outlining some of the complexity and appalling problems
affecting the region, was given by Pat Gaffney, General Secretary of Pax Christi.

Margaret Doe (Assistant Head, Ursuline Convent High School), Rebecca Howe, Claire Ataman (Ursuline Convent High School students) & Pat Gaffney (General Secretary - Pax Christi)

After their recent pilgrimage to the region Rebecca and Claire then gave moving personal testimony as they shared their vivid impressions of the very difficult living conditions suffered by the local population
in the Holy Land

100 Days of Peace

100 Days of Peace is a project of the Catholic dioceses of Brentwood, Southwark and Westminster (Education Departments, and Justice & Peace Commissions), alongside Pax Christi, London Citizens, More Than Gold and the 2012 Office of the Catholic Bishops of England and Wales.

It revives an old tradition that allowed athletes to travel in peace to and from the games - today the need for peace across the world, in communities and homes is still very much with us.

As part of this project the Justice & Peace group invites all parish groups and parishioners to mark this special time in unique and different ways.

Perhaps your group would like to light the Peace candle and invite others to pray with you in a particular way or for a particular need.

We will be having an information evening at the beginning of February for everyone that wants to get involved, in any way, big or small.

In the meantime please let us know of your ideas.
